UCL: Becker's brace not enough for Union Berlin's first win
Reading Time: 3min | Tue. 03.10.23. | 22:05
Surinamese scored two goals but Braga won 3-2 in Germany
In front of nearly 80,000 shocked Germans in Berlin, Portugal's Braga pulled out an unbelievable victory in injury time and secured their first win. Everything was ready for a historic celebration in the German capital, especially after 2:0 in just 30 minutes. The Olympic Stadium looked like a volcano that had just erupted. And then from somewhere, like in a movie, a written-off Portuguese "hero" appeared and shut everything down. In the midst of the Germans' total offensive, when it seemed that the goal was hanging in the air, when the fans were watching the final minutes on their fingertips and with their pulses at the upper limit, a quick counter appeared in the othe r part of the field and Andre Castro found the net for a sensational victory of the Portuguese team - 3:2.
This is Union Berlin's first-ever season in the Champions League.

Matchday 2: lose to Braga in the 94th minute

Deserved or not, that story is irrelevant. Because, Union had everything in its hands: a 2:0 lead after half an hour of play, a groggy opponent, a volcano in the stands... Everything was going towards recording the first, historic victory in the first appearance in the Champions League. But perhaps the experience of Braga, who drives through the European Cups every season, decided somewhere. The guests had fewer chances, maybe they were lucky in some situations, and have taken all three points. From 0:2 to 3:2, there can be no coincidence.
UCL week is not over but this goal is my goal of the week wow

After an opening goal by Gosens was nullified due to offside, Surinam's Sheraldo Becker scored two goals in the space of seven minutes to give Germans the lead. But near the end of the first half, Malian Sikou Niakate scored a goal which was eventually the start of the big turnover. Bruma scored a screamer to level the score in the 51st minute, and after the hosts failed to secure the win in numerous chances, Castro 'punished them' deep in injury time.
