
Uganda paired against Tanzania in 2025 Africa Cup of Nations draw

The 35 edition of the Africa Cup of Nations will begin on Sunday 21 December, with the final taking place on Sunday 18 January 2026
There will be an East African derby on the cards at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) after Uganda were paired against Tanzania in the draw conducted at the iconic Mohammed V National Theatre in Rabat, Morocco.
Uganda are making a return to the tournament after a six-year hiatus while Tanzania will be making their first-ever back-to-back appearance at the continental showpiece.
They will be joined by Tunisia who will be making history by qualifying for their 17th consecutive tournament as well as three-time African champions Nigeria.
Among the 24 teams in the draw, 12 teams have previously won the AFCON title, sharing an impressive total of 28 championships among them.
