The club would spent the better part of the campaign flirting with relegation, but a strong finish saw them keep their top-flight status.

The club has, however, experienced an improved start in the current campaign, winning one, drawing twice and losing once.

At the centre of the impressive defence line, that has kept three clean sheets, is Abonga- the younger brother to the team’s long-serving striker and 2018/19 'Golden Boot' winner, Enosh Ochieng.

Abonga, who has come through the club's youth team, did not have the luxury of consistent game time last season.

Despite that, coach Nyaudo appreciated his potential and tipped him to become one of the most-sought after defenders in the country.

The seasoned tactician believes that Nyaudo has what it taks to rise all the way to the national team, Harambee Stars.

He is an enterprising player. A player who plays with a lot of zeal and who does not want to lose at any given time.

He is young, tough and very promising and I think with time, he will become another national team player,” said Nyaudo in a recent interview.

While Abonga and the rest of the defensive unit have improved this season, Nyaudo says he working round the clock to get his forward firing again.

The four-time champions are set to face the 2023 Mozzart Bet Cup champions Kakamega Homeboyz this weekend.
