French keeper did the same two seasons in a row, with Lille and AC Milan

One is quite extraordinary among many AC Milan players who contributed to the first title after a long, long time. The keeper Mike Maignan is unique not just for his goalkeeping skills but for an achievement that is rarely seen in the world.

'Half man, half title', one would say. The 26-year-old custodian, a product of PSG's youth setups, made his name in French football after moving to Lille in 2015. With this slot, he surprisingly won the Ligue 1 title in the season 2020-21, a point clear of his childhood club. That was Lille's first title in a decade.

After a sensational campaign, Maignan moved to AC Milan, signing a five-year contract, albeit Rossoneri were title-less just like Lille since 2010-11.

So what he did? Won a title with Milan, of course. So basically, if you need to end a decade-long title drought, just bring Mike Maignan and the success is guaranteed.

As announced by Serie A, Maignan has been awarded the Serie A MVP Best Goalkeeper title following his solid debut season with Milan.

The Frenchman has conceded just 21 goals and kept 16 clean sheets in 31 Serie A appearances this season, shining despite missing six games through a wrist injury.

As a goalkeeper, he is still very young and probably has a decade of top-level football left for him.
