Former Chelsea forward is not getting playing time in Leipzig and will move in January
Timo Werner (29) has played just a single minute of football this season, and with a gross salary of 10,000,000 euros (excluding bonuses), he is by far the highest-paid player at RB Leipzig. That is why it comes as no surprise that the Saxons want to get rid of him as soon as possible, without waiting for his contract to expire in June. There is not much interest, which is also unsurprising—the German forward has been far from his best form for several years now. However, it is well known that “big” names are always attractive overseas, regardless of their current situation, and that is the case with the former Chelsea and Tottenham player as well. According to Florian Plettenberg, Inter Miami have shown interest in Werner, as they would like to form a trio of Leo Messi – Luis Suarez – Timo Werner. At first, there was talk that David Beckham’s club was planning to revive the trident of Messi – Suarez – Neymar, but in the end, the German emerged as the main option.

His financial demands will be significantly lower, Leipzig are ready to let him go in January on a free transfer, while Neymar has been seriously struggling with injuries in recent weeks and it remains questionable how much he will even be able to play in the upcoming period. Let us recall that reports from Brazil are even suggesting that he may need surgery. As per Plettenger, Timo Werner and his representatives are already in advanced negotiations over a January transfer to Inter Miami. Unless there are any unexpected twists, the deal will be completed in the first days of the 2026 and the former German international will move to the USA.
