What happens when you have Viking, Pitbull, and Spider? You easily win

Even though Atletico Madrid lost pretty much all chances to claim the La Liga title and already secured the UEFA Champions League for the next season, while Rayo Vallecano were only three points away from the European zone, Los Colchoneros dominantly triumphed 3-0, as the Viking, the Pitbull, and the Spider a.k.a Alexander Sorloth, Conor Gallagher, and Julian Alvarez each netted once.

Despite the visitors' decent performance in the opening half, Diego Simeone's men were 2-0 up at the break. Rayo had possession advantage and almost as many attempts as Atleti, but two perfect headers - courtesy of Sorloth and Gallagher - made a difference in favour of the home crew.

The visitors tried to bounce back and take control of the match after the break, while Isi Palazon made one terrific attempt, which Jan Oblak and the bar somehow stopped together. Regardless, Atletico refused to allow any surprises. On the other hand, Simeone's lads tried to break the rivals altogether, but Antoine Griezmann lacked concentration in key moments.

Still, what the Frenchman failed to do, Julian Alvarez managed, netting his 15th La Liga goal and making it 3-0 in the 77th minute to confirm Atletico's convincing triumph. Thanks to this win, the crew from the capital kept the six-point edge ahead of the fourth-placed Athletic Bilbao and forgot about the last round's awful performance and a defeat to Las Palmas.
