Why former AFC Leopards coach quit Rwandan club before officially taking charge

In one of the most unprecedented transfer twists, former AFC Leopards head coach Tomas Trucha has parted ways with Rwandan side Mukura Victory Sports (VS) before his official unveiling and before taking charge of the team.
Trucha had signed a three-year contract to take over the Butare-based club and had already arrived in Rwanda ahead of his unveiling.
However, instead of proceeding with the unveiling, the Czech tactician informed the club's hierarchy of his decision to terminate the agreement, much to the shock of the club and the disappointment of its fans.
In a statement published on its official social media platforms, Mukura explained the circumstances that led to the cancellation of the deal.
"Mukura Victory Sports et Loisirs regrets to announce that it has mutually parted ways with coach Tomáš Trucha. Although both parties had reached an agreement and Coach Trucha had already arrived in Huye District, he has since accepted another professional opportunity," read part of the statement.
"Consequently, the club and the coach have agreed to terminate the contract before the commencement of his duties."
Having already signed the contract, Trucha was required to honour the financial terms of his release clause, with the club confirming that he had fulfilled his obligations. Mukura has since begun the search for a new head coach.
"Coach Trucha has fully honoured his contractual obligations by settling the agreed amount with Mukura VS&L.
"The management of Mukura Victory Sports et Loisirs has initiated the process of recruiting a new coach and will inform its fans and the public of the appointment in due course."
Speaking after the decision, Trucha admitted that a lucrative offer elsewhere forced him to walk away from the role before officially taking charge.
"After a long night and day, I decided to withdraw from becoming Mukura's next coach. It was not an easy decision to make. I received an offer that I could not reject, and everything was handled professionally," said Trucha.
"Sometimes football presents opportunities that are impossible to refuse. However, I hope this is not my last time here. I will continue following the team."
