You took Rogers, now give us Garnacho – Aston Villa make their move for Argentine

Aston Villa are pushing hard to sign Alejandro Garnacho, with the Argentine winger increasingly expected to leave Chelsea after just one disappointing season at Stamford Bridge.

The Midlands club have stepped up negotiations and are believed to have submitted an official offer to Chelsea, according to BBC reports. Villa's proposal is understood to be an initial loan deal with a clause that could make the move permanent, giving the 21-year-old a chance to revive his career under Unai Emery.

Chelsea have shown a willingness to part ways with Garnacho after placing a price tag of around £43 million ($58m) on the winger last month. The decision comes only a year after the Blues invested £40 million ($54m) to bring him from Manchester United, but the move has failed to deliver the expected results.

Garnacho's struggles in west London have mirrored Chelsea's own inconsistent period. Although he contributed eight goals and four assists in 43 appearances across all competitions, his performances in the Premier League fell short of expectations.

A move to Villa also comes as Chelsea continue reshaping their squad. The arrivals of Morgan Rogers in a club-record £117 million ($157m) transfer from Aston Villa and Sporting youngster Geovany Quenda have increased competition on the wings, prompting the club to reduce the size of the squad.

For Aston Villa, Garnacho represents another ambitious addition during an active summer transfer window. If the deal goes through, he would become the club's fourth major signing, following Johan Manzambi, Joao Gomes and Modou Kaba Cisse, as Emery continues strengthening his squad with funds generated from player departures.

A switch to Villa Park could provide Garnacho with the fresh start he needs, offering regular opportunities to rediscover the form that once made him one of Manchester United's brightest young prospects.
