FKF Premier League champions Kenya Police FC, on Sunday night, unveiled Serbian tactician Dusan Stojanovic as their new head coach, replacing Burundian Etienne Ndiyaragijje, who parted ways with the club last week after 11 months in charge.

Stojanovic has big shoes to fill, as his predecessor etched his name in the club’s history by guiding Police to their maiden FKF Premier League title last season.

The Serbian will be expected to replicate or even surpass that success.

He arrives with an impressive track record, having led Uganda’s SC Villa to their first league title in 20 years during the 2023–24 season.

Stojanovic will be hoping to make a similar impact in the Kenyan top flight.

Just like Etienne, he takes over the team while it is struggling and near the bottom of the table.

Police currently sit 17th in the 18-team league, the same position the Burundian found them in when he replaced Salim Babu in November 2024.

However, the team has four games in hand, and Stojanovic will be eager to collect maximum points to lift them in the standings.

Speaking during the unveiling, club chairman Gideon Nyale Munga expressed confidence in the 44-year-old coach and assured him of support as he begins his new journey in Kenya.

“Coach Dusan has a wealth of experience. He has worked in South Africa, North Africa, and East Africa. We engaged him because we believe that with his exposure and experience, Police FC will reach greater heights. Coach, you are most welcome.

Kenyan people are very friendly, and you will enjoy working here. We believe that under your leadership, we will remain champions this coming season,” said Nyale, who doubles up as a Senior Assistant Inspector General of the National Police Service.

On his part, Stojanovic promised to get straight to work and keep the team focused on their goals.

Although he was not pleased with the goalless draw against Posta Rangers, which he watched from the stands, he praised the players for their effort.

“I hope everything will turn out as we want it to. What we can promise is hard work, persistence, and a fighting spirit. For now, everything is perfect except the result, but I cannot complain because the boys gave everything on the field,” he said.

The Serbian will make his debut on the touchline on Wednesday, when Kenya Police FC hosts Sofapaka FC in a rescheduled league match at the Police Sacco Grounds.
