You can't spell Sorloth without Slot: Liverpool aim Atletico striker, but there's one major obstacle

Money, of course. Lots of money
Atletico Madrid could be one of the busiest clubs in January, with new sporting director Mateu Alemany ready to make his mark and fresh financial backing from Apollo Capital set to arrive. While arrivals are expected, departures may be just as numerous - but not all targets will come easy.
The latest name linked to a Premier League move is Alexander Sorloth, reportedly on Liverpool's shortlist as they look to soften the blow of Alexander Isak's injury. However, the Norwegian striker faces significant hurdles.
According to Radio Marca's Matteo Moretto, Sorloth is more likely to remain at the Metropolitano this winter. Any potential suitor would have to meet Atletico's asking price of €35-40 million, a sum that makes a loan move - reportedly Liverpool's preferred option - far less realistic.
Still, game time could be a factor. Sorloth, keen to play more regularly, may push for a move if Atletico cannot guarantee him minutes on the pitch, but Fenerbahce seems closer to closing the deal than the Reds.
Other Atletico moves are shaping up too. Giacomo Raspadori could depart, with AS Roma formally discussing a loan with an option to buy. Raspadori, chasing minutes ahead of a potential Italian World Cup call-up, may finally get his chance.
🚨🇳🇴 Alexander Sørloth is currently asking for a salary of €12m to join Fenerbahçe. He is open to the move.

On the incoming front, Atletico have sounded out Leon Goretzka, who is considering options should Bayern Munich fail to renew his contract this summer. The German midfielder also has interest from Italy and Turkey, but a La Liga switch could appeal if his Bayern future remains uncertain.
For Liverpool, however, the key question remains: can they overcome Atletico’s price and Sorloth's current situation to secure a winter addition? For now, the odds appear stacked against them, making the January window a delicate balancing act.
