The Serbian wins Australian Open to equal Nadal's 22 Grand Slam titles
Novak Djokovic is once again the champion of Melbourne. For the tenth time. He was the record holder until now also, this is now absolute dominance in the arena named after Rod Laver. The Aussies could change it and take it after the Serbian tennis player. Arguably the greatest of all time. Stefanos Tsitsipas had no solution in the final of the first Grand Slam of the season, although he played a good match, he lost it "with zero" - 3-0 (6:3, 7:6, 7:6) in a two hours and 55 minutes game.
If the saying goes that revenge is served cold, this was the coldest possible. A year of waiting. Served with a smile, without a single word. But performed cruelly, with surgical precision. Seven opponents had no chance against the best tennis player the Australian Open has ever seen.

Tsitsipas had no chance either. A long time ago, Djokovic got into the head of the Greek tennis player. He tied for nine wins over him before today's final. So, how can an 11-year-old boy from Athens break that streak in Novak's 'house'? It wasn't realistic.
Tenth crown in Melbourne, 22nd career Grand Slam title. Novak Djokovic is now side by side with Rafael Nadal for the number of those biggest trophies, but he has surpassed him in all other segments of the tennis game. If a line were drawn today, it would be clear who is the Greatest of all time. But let's keep that debate alive until the end of the year, because we're definitely going to have a spectacular season. In which Novak Djokovic will have a chance to cement himself as a G.O.A.T.

This was the second time that the Serbian ace and the Greek star met in the Grand Slam final, but it was nothing like that duel at Roland Garros. Then Tsitsipas had a 2-0 sets lead but lost. In Melbourne, Novak stepped on the gas pedal from the start. He made a breakpoint for 3-1 and reached the first set in a light rhythm, without threats to his serve.

Tsitsipas was expected to press in the second. He had nothing left to lose and nothing to wait for. The Greek relaxed his hand and started to hit, to play much better, and sometimes to act a little better on the court than Djokovic, who suddenly got a little nervous. He started to argue with his box, to miss some easy shots... That got him into trouble, and at 4:5 he had to save a set ball. And he succeeded.
The decision came down in a tie-break, where again with oscillations, Djokovic was the better player and eventually led with 2-0 in the sets.

The third set started with a break made by Tsitsipas, but he had it in his hands for a short time, Novak took it away in the next game. And then again a game of nerves until the tie-break, in which the Serbian tennis and sports giant outplayed the Greek and put the crown of Australia on his head for the tenth time in his career.
How far that January of last year seems now - detention, extradition, courts, all the horrors that Australia served to Novak Djokovic. It looks like that's the only way they can beat him. On the field, you know who is the boss of Melbourne, who is the king of Australia.
