
Kenya Golf Union name Victoria Cup squad

Since its inauguration in 2016, Kenya has won the event three times
Dennis Maara will captain Team Kenya to this year’s Victoria Cup an event between Kenya and Uganda set to be hosted by Kenya at Limuru Country Club from 28 to 31 July where each team will be represented by 10 players.
Kenya Golf Union had earlier named 17 players who have been undergoing training under coach John van Liefland, in preparation for the event.

The provisional squad had the four golfers who two weeks ago won the Region IV regional championship led by Maara, Nyali's Adel Balala, Railways John Lejirma and Kiambu's Michael Karanga.
The rest of the squad included Jay Sandhu, Sammy Mulama of Golf Park, Ebill Omollo from Vet Lab and John Kamais from Nakuru and Christopher Andrea from Ruiru Sports Club.
The Juniors in training were Njoroge Kibugu from Muthaiga and club mate Daniel Kiragu, Vetlab trio of Mikael Kihara, Steve Orinda, Chrisphine Owuor as well as Windsor's Lee Kimathi, Andrew Wahome from Nyali Golf & Country Club and Ngondo Kimemia from Sigona.
The final team was named on Tuesday, 26 July at Limuru Country Club with the KGU chairman Njani Ndiritu in attendance.
Since its inauguration in 2016, Kenya has won the event three times. In 2019, Uganda won the event at Entebbe Golf Club.
“We are happy to stage the event once again this year, something we were not able to do in 2020 and 2021 due to the challenges brought about by the Covid-19 Pandemic” added Ndiritu.
Team Kenya will comprise of Balala, Wahome, Andrea, Kiragu, Maara, Omollo, Lejirma, Karanga, Kibugu and Mulama.
Talking from the training Venue, Limuru Country Club, Maara the team captain oozed confidence as he reassured the country that the team is fully prepared and that they intend to get the trophy back.
