Defeats for Ulinzi and NCPB have opened a pathway for Strathmore to return to the helm of the league standings.
Coming off their biggest win in the league this season, a 32-31 victory over former champions Ulinzi HC, Kenyatta University (K.U) take on another tough opponent, Black Mamba on Sunday, 25 July, in the Kenya Handball Federation (KHF) men's league.
Coming into the Saturday match against Ulinzi, K.U were deemed the minnows but had the last laugh, a feat they will be looking to repeat against another title favourite, Mamba.
"We have little time to recover before playing Black Mamba but we will give it our best. A recovery session in the swimming pool will come in handy as we need to be fresh for the Mamba match," said K.U captain Samuel Katuva after the Ulinzi match.
The win was K.U's third in six matches and are going for a fourth victory against Black Mamba who come to the match with better statistics. The Kaloleni-based Mamba have won four of their five matches, their only loss coming in the hands of Buccaneers.
Meanwhile, National Cereals and Produce Board (NCPB) men are looking to bounce back from their 38-32 defeat by General Service Unit (GSU) when they take on Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology (JKUAT). The varsity side are coming off a 27-22 win against Technical University of Kenya (TUK) on Saturday.
Following Ulinzi and NCPB's slip up on Saturday, Strathmore University, currently second on the log with 12 points from a six-match winning streak, have the chance to go top of the table and push their unbeaten run to seven matches when they take on Hospital Hill's Inspired. The schoolboys play Thika from 13:30 before meeting Strathmore at 16:30.

In the women's league, Ulinzi Sharks are looking to pick their third win of the season when they take on JKUAT women. The military women subjected NCPB women to their second defeat on Saturday in a 26-25 outcome and coach Yusuf Kipkoech will be hoping his charges can carry the same form to the Sunday match.
In another women's league match, on-form Nanyuki take on K.U women who are on a rebuilding path. Coach Geoffrey Barasa says he is building a team for the university league playoff due next month.
