Ksh358 Million up for grabs as Magical Kenya Open enters money bracket

Njoroge Kibugu is the only Kenyan playing through the weekend after firing a 5 under par after two rounds to make cut

At the close of play on Friday, 20 February one remained; the hero of the hour, Njoroge Kibugu, making his fifth appearance at the event. The crowds were out in force on Friday again as expectation fell on him to preserve home participation over the weekend, and he delivered in spectacular fashion.
As the weekend action teed off on a rainy Saturday morning, with the entire field getting off their tees between 7:15am and 9:16 am, Kenya's sole representative Kibugu getting started at 8:10am, there is a whooping Ksh358 million (USD2,700,000) to play for.
Saturday action begins with Frenchman Frederic Lacroix and Casey Jarvis in the lead. At 13 under par, the pair held a two-shot lead over the field. Jarvis' fellow South African Hennie Du Plessis fired a stunning 61, which would have been a course record had preferred lies not been in play at Karen Country Club, to share third place with Spain's Angel Ayora and Portugal's Ricardo Gouveia.
After finishing his opening 65 with an eagle to build momentum, Lacroix had four birdies before the turn and the same again afterwards for a brilliant 62.
