KTTA boss to head continental body's development docket

Mudibo was also elected to the board of director of the international table tennis federation in 2017.

Kenya Table Tennis Association president, Andrew Mudibo, has been elected Africa Table Tennis Federation (ATTF) vice president in charge of Development.

Mudibo was elected unopposed during the African Federation’s AGM held on June 5, which due to the Covid-19 Pandemic was held virtually.

Africa Table Tennis Federation President, Khaled El-Salhy of Egypt was also re-elected unopposed for another term. The media relations, marketing and events management consultant has been credited with the expansion and development of the sport in Kenya.

“Mudibo’s election as the vice president in charge of development, is a blessing for the continent of Africa, as we shall benefit from his wide experience to grow the sport," said Khaled El-Salhy.

Mudibo, who has served the federation as president since 2014, after holding the Secretary General (SG) position for long has been involved with the sport's administration since the late 80's. He is credited with, among other things, starting the Saint Teresa's Table Tennis Club in Eastleigh area.

He served as the treasurer and one of the founding members of Mathare Youth Sports Association (MYSA). He got his coaching diploma in 1996, and is a certified International Umpire who has officiated in several elite competitions including the Commonwealth Games. 

He was elected president of Zone five for table tennis in 2008. The zone had a total of ten countries then namely, Egypt, Ethiopia, Sudan, Uganda, Eretria, Rwanda, Burundi, Tanzania, Somalia and Kenya.
