Trophies will be awarded to the winning teams and individual players

Nairobi Provincial Cricket Association teams Swamibapa and Sikh Union A - referred to as the Simbas - will on Saturday March 4 lock horns in an exciting NPCA T20 Super Division League final set to be hosted at the Shree Cutchi Leva Patel Samaj Grounds (SCLPS) in Nairobi West.

For the first time in history of the competition, the final will be played from 1830 EAT, making it the first flood-lit event of Kenya’s renowned domestic league tournament.

Former champions Swamibapa Sports Club A will come in as the favorites after enjoying a rather colorful tournament that saw them trump Sir Ali by a run-victory score of 69 in the championships eliminator series.

Swamibapa’s only loss in the new format league came in late January - 38 a run loss to the aforementioned Sir Ali.

Sikh Union on the other hand finished fourth in the league standings before dropping title favorites and defending champions Kanbis A by five wickets- booking a place into the weekend finals after the Sir Ali were suspended from taking further part in the competition.

In a communication from NPCA on February 26, the NPCA Executive Committee resolved from an emergency meeting the same day that Sir Ali Muslim Club (SAMC) had been suspended due to ‘incidents emanating immediately after the quarter final 1 matchup’ against Swamibapa a day earlier.

Speaking to the event’s organizers ahead of the game, Swamis skipper Russhab Patel indicated the high regard he holds Sikh Union by saying: “We are not taking Sikh Union lightly, that's for sure. We will treat them as any other team. They have played some competitive cricket lately and that's obviously the reason they have reached where they are at the present.”

NCPA Chairman Kanti Rabadia on the other hand thanked the entire board at Samaj for supporting the game of cricket, lauding SCLP Samaj as the most improved teams in the NPCA League this season.

In other matches, the NPCA Division Two Final between Nairobi Jaffery’s and Kanbis Development will take place on Sunday at the Sikh Union Grounds starting from 0930 EAT.

Saturday will also see 10 Division One matches played, with the highlight being Ngara SC taking on Stray Leopards A at the Ngara Sports Club.
