Homeboyz and Mwamba will join the two sides in the other semi

Driftwood 7s defending champions KCB RFC kept their hopes of defending the coastal tournament alive as they put in a commanding display favourites Strathmore Leos to book their place in the main cup semis.

In that third quarter final match played at the Mombasa Sports Club on Sunday morning, the Dennis Mwanja coached side booked their place in the last four as they recorded a 17-7 victory against a Leos side who, strangely, struggled to get going through the entire match.

The Louis Kisia coached side had beaten KCB in the Christie 7s main cup final but KCB avenged that defeat with the victory that will certainly cause a dent to Leos' pursuit of the title as they are set to miss crucial points in the standings.

"Beating Strathmore has pulled us away from the rest of the pack in terms of points. So when we win this tournament, because we have the faith and the confidence, we are going to set a margin that will help us," Mwanja told Mozzart Sport.

Following the victory, the Bankers set up a semis clash against Menegai Oilers who managed to see off Nondescripts 10-7 in the last quarter final.

In the earlier quarterfinal match, a high flying Homeboyz became the first side to confirm their spot in the last four after a tight 10-5 victory over Kabras Sugar.

The Deejayz will face off with Mwamba who beat Kenya Harlequin 19-0 in the second quarter.
