
Kabras extend dominance over KCB as Menengai Oilers book maiden Enterprise Cup final

Kabras RFC extended their unbeaten Enterprise Cup run since April 2018, holding off a late KCB fightback to win 25-21
Menengai Oilers stormed into their maiden Enterprise Cup final with a commanding 41-10 victory over Nondies RFC in a match played on Saturday, 15 March at the Nakuru Showgrounds.
Meanwhile, defending champions Kabras RFC extended their dominance in the competition, securing their fifth consecutive final appearance with a hard-fought 25-21 win over KCB Rugby at the Kakamega Showgrounds.
Kabras RFC extended their unbeaten Enterprise Cup run since April 2018, holding off a late KCB fightback to win 25-21.
In what was the first semifinal meeting between the two sides, Kabras showed resilience to deny KCB a spot in the final.
KCB started strong, with Austin Sikutwa’s penalty giving them an early 3-0 lead.
However, Kabras responded swiftly as Griffin Chao capitalized on a clearance to score, with Ntabeni Dukisa converting for a 7-3 advantage.
KCB regained the lead through Andy Cole Omolo’s try, making it 8-7, before Levy Amunga’s drop goal stretched their advantage to 11-7.
But Kabras hit back, with Chao grabbing his second try off a Dukisa kick to reclaim a 12-11 lead. Eric Cantona then added a drop goal before Walter Okoth’s corner try, converted by Dukisa, put Kabras in control with a 22-11 halftime lead.
KCB attempted a second-half comeback, with Sikutwa slotting a penalty to close the gap to 22-14.
Dukisa responded in kind for Kabras to make it 25-14, but the Sugarmen were reduced to 14 men after Walter Okoth saw yellow.
KCB took advantage, with Omolo crossing the whitewash before Sikutwa’s conversion made it 25-21. However, Kabras held on to book yet another final appearance.
Menengai Oilers delivered a statement performance, overpowering Nondies 41-10 to secure a historic first Enterprise Cup final appearance.
Despite Nondies showing early intent, Oilers capitalized on a numerical advantage when Daniel Okito was sent off.
Fullback Tony Oketch, running a brilliant support line, dived over for the opening try, setting the tone for the home side.
Samuel Ovwamu extended the lead, brushing off two defenders to score under the posts for a 12-0 advantage.
Nelson Makokha’s 60-meter sprint after intercepting a pass made it 17-0 before Daniel Kipchirchir strolled in for Oilers’ fourth try.
Nondies finally got on the board when Sankara Wafula finished off a well-worked move to make it 22-5 at halftime.
The second half was all Oilers, with Alvin Khavoli finishing off a brilliant counterattack before Samuel Were muscled his way over for their sixth try.
Musonye’s late effort stretched the lead to 41-5, with Nondies grabbing a late consolation through Tony Fidens.
With this victory, Oilers now prepare for a massive final showdown against Kabras, slated for Saturda,y April 19.
