
Kabras extend winning streak with victory over Quins

KCB RFC and Menengai Oilers were other big winners on Saturday
Kabras Sugar RFC secured a commanding 50-22 victory against Kenya Harlequin at the RFUEA Ground on Saturday. Kabras dominated the second half, scoring five unanswered tries to bag an eighth win of the campaign.
Despite their strong performance in the second stanza, Kabras faced a surprising challenge in the opening phase that saw them trail for the first time this season.
Harlequin took the lead through a penalty from Cornelius Mokoro, but Kabras quickly responded with a try by Eugene Sifuna, converted by Ntabeni Dukisa, making it 7-3. However, Quins regained the lead through Paul Mutsami, with Mokoro's conversion bringing the score to 10-7.
Although Quins extended their lead with another try, Kabras fought back with Derrick Ashihundu's try, narrowing the gap. Paul Murunga's try further extended Quins' lead, but Kabras managed to score through Edward Mwaura, ending the first half with a score of 22-19 in Quins' favor.
In the second half, Kabras came back stronger, with Walter Okoth's try earning them a bonus point and leading them to a 26-22 advantage after conversion. Brian Juma and Lameck Ambetsa contributed to Kabras' lead, with Dukisa converting their tries.
A yellow card for Quins further aided Kabras, allowing Asuman Mugwera and Mathias Osimbo to score additional tries, securing the victory with a final score of 50-22.
In Kisumu, KCB Rugby continued their dominant run in the Kenya Cup 2023/2024 season with a resounding 64-10 victory over Kisumu RFC at the Kisumu Polytechnic grounds.
The game kicked off with an early try from KCB's Bob Muhati, swiftly followed by a successful conversion from Lionel Ajeliti, giving KCB a 7-0 lead. Ajeliti then converted Festus Shiasi's try, extending KCB's lead to 14-0, before Kisumu RFC pulled one back, narrowing the score to 14-7.
KCB showed their strength by further extending their lead to 21-7 after Ajeliti converted Felix Ojoo's try. Austin Sikutwa scored two successive tries for KCB, with one conversion, bringing the score to 33-7. Kisumu managed to add three points with a penalty kick, but KCB's Muhati scored his second try, and with Ajeliti's successful conversion, KCB led 40-10 at halftime.
After the restart, KCB continued their dominance, with William Opaka and James Ocheing scoring tries, albeit with mixed success in conversions, making the score 52-10. Vincent Onyala added a try, and with the conversion, KCB sealed their victory with a final score of 64-10.
Meanwhile, Menengai Oilers bounced back with a 31-18 win over Nondies at the Nakuru Showground. Tyson Maina, Abutwalib Wesonga, and Jadah Abdon were among the try-scorers for the Oilers, securing their home match winning streak.
Kenyatta University Blak Blad emerged victorious over Catholic Monks with a 28-22 win at their home ground. Dennis Gitau's drop goal leveled the score early on, but Monks took the lead before halftime. In the second half, Blak Blad staged a comeback, with Daniel Oyoo's drop goal and a late penalty securing the win.
