Kenya Cup: Oilers, KCB run riot in week two action

Meanwhile, Kenya Harlequins picked their second win of the season after humbling Homeboyz RFC 52-3 in the Kenya Cup match played at the Impala Grounds

Menengai Oilers picked up from where they left off in their Kenya Cup week one match to whip Mwamba RFC 67-0 in the Kenya Rugby Union Kenya Cup match played at the Impala Club in Nairobi on Saturday.

The Oilers who are in sleek form this season were coming off a 43-13 win over Homeboyz RFC in their Kenya Cup opener.

It was talented scrum-half Sam Onsomu who opened the scores for the Oilers through a five-pointer. Clinton Odhiambo, Captain Ibrahim Ayoo, and Kenya Simbas speedster Beldad Ogeta also joined the scoresheet.

In another Kenya Cup match, KCB Rugby taught Catholic University of East Africa (CUEA) Monks who is boss after powering 79-19 past the students in the match played at the CUEA Grounds in Karen.

The determined Bankers managed their tries thanks to several players including Peter Waitere, Festus Shiasi, Andycolle Omollo, Griffin Musila, Wilhite Mususi, Vincent Onyala, Elvis Olukusi, Nick Okullo, Bob Muhati, Austin Sikutwa, Felix Ojoo, and Lecy Amunga.

Meanwhile, Kenya Harlequins picked their second win of the season after humbling Homeboyz RFC 52-3 in the Kenya Cup match played at the Impala Grounds. It was a teacher-meet-student affair, as Kenya Harlequins coach Paul Murunga transported himself back to his heydays as Homeboyz RFC's founder, playmaker, and eventually coach. The match was officiated by Joseph Mumo.

Kenya Cup defending champions extended their fine run by holding down Nondies RFC 40-0 in the match played at the Impala Grounds. The Sugarmen were coming from a 72-10 victory over Kisumu RFC in their opening match. They will be looking to bag as many points as possible to retain their title. Duncan Kioko was the match official.

At the same time, Strathmore Leos spilled Kenyatta University's Blak Blad 21-16 in the match played at the Strathmore University Grounds. The Leos were avenging their narrow 17-13 loss to their fellow students in the 2023 Impala Floodlights quarterfinals. Vintage referee Victor Oduor took charge of the match.

Kisumu RFC's misery continued as they went down 25-20 to spirited Nakuru RFC. The lakeside men were coming from a humbling 72-10 loss to Kabras RFC in their first match but they failed to sparkle again. Robinson Kiplagat officiated the match.
