
Shujaa land tough opponents in Paris

The men's 7s competition will take place from July 24-27, while the women's tournament is scheduled for July 28-30
Kenya 7s national team; Shujaa have been placed in Pool B ahead of the Paris 2024 Olympics slated for Friday, July 24 to Sunday, August 11.
They will lock horns with second-seeded Argentina who performed incredibly well in the World 7s Series, Australia, and Samoa as they compete in the global showpiece.
The tournament will feature 12 rugby teams.
Top seeds New Zealand are in Pool A, competing against Ireland, South Africa, and Japan. Pool C includes 2016 and 2020 champions Fiji, hosts France, the USA, and Uruguay.
The men's 7s competition will take place from July 24-27, while the women's tournament is scheduled for July 28-30.
Notably, the rugby sevens matches will commence two days before the opening ceremony, starting with the men’s preliminary and quarterfinal stages. After a pause for the opening ceremony on July 26, the men's medal-winning teams will be unveiled the next day. The women’s tournament will conclude with the gold and bronze medal matches on July 30.
Hosts France will be joined by New Zealand, Argentina, Fiji, and Australia, who secured their places by ranking in the top four positions of the HSBC World Rugby Sevens Series 2023.
Regional qualifiers include Uruguay (South America), Ireland (Europe), USA (North America), Kenya (Africa), Samoa (Oceania), and Japan (Asia). South Africa secured their spot through the Repechage.
For the women's lineup, the top four qualifiers from the 2023 World Series are New Zealand, Australia, Ireland, and the USA, along with hosts France. They will be joined by regional qualifiers Brazil, Canada, Great Britain, South Africa, Fiji, and Japan.
Paris 2024 marks rugby sevens’ third appearance at the Olympic Games, anticipated to be one of the most thrilling events following the success of the Rugby World Cup 2023 in France.
Fiji’s men have been dominant in the Olympic competition, winning gold in both Rio 2016 and Tokyo 2020. New Zealand are the reigning women’s Olympic champions, while Australia won the inaugural women’s gold medal in Rio.
