The highly rated youngster earned his long-awaited Shujaa debut after being named in Kenya's squad for the second leg of the HSBC SVNS World Championship, held in Valladolid, Spain, from 29-31 May.

The tournament came after Kenya's seventh-place finish at the Hong Kong Sevens as the national side continued its rebuilding process with fresh talent.

Speaking to Mozzart Sport during the Ruff n Tuff 7s, where Strathmore Leos successfully defended their title with a 15-14 victory over Nondies RFC, Mola described his national team debut as a career-defining milestone.

"It was an incredible feeling. Representing the national team is every player's dream, so making my debut was a very proud moment for me. Wearing the Kenya jersey on such a big stage is something I'll always cherish," said Mola.

While the occasion was special for the youngster, it was equally emotional for his family, particularly his mother and grandfather, who have remained his biggest supporters throughout his rugby journey.

"The first person I called when I received the news was my mother. She was so happy for me. My mother and my grandfather have been my biggest supporters throughout this journey. They would always call me asking for links to watch my matches, and knowing they were always cheering me on gave me extra motivation," he revealed.

The experience of competing against the world's best sevens players also left a lasting impression on the Strathmore Leos star.

"Playing on that grand stage was an unforgettable experience. The atmosphere, the competition, and representing your country; it is a feeling that's difficult to describe. It's truly unmatched,” the soft-spoken Mola offered.

Despite reaching one of the biggest milestones in his career, Mola insists he is only getting started.

The versatile youngster is determined to continue improving both for club and country as the new rugby season gathers momentum.

"This year, I want to deliver even better performances, both individually and as part of the team. We're working hard, and I believe our fans can expect stronger and better performances from me and Strathmore Leos throughout the season," he added.

Mola's rise through the ranks has been steady and impressive.

A member of the Chipu class of 2023, he secured his move to Strathmore Leos after catching the eye with standout performances for Kisumu RFC during the 2022 season.

At the Nairobi-based club, he has continued to develop under the guidance of experienced tactician Louis Kisia, who also serves as Shujaa's assistant coach.

He joined a production line of talented players at Strathmore that has produced the likes of George Ooro, Matoka Matoka, Richard Omedo, Gabriel Ayimba, and Nygel Amaitsa.

His rapid development has also been reflected in the honours he has collected along the way.

Mola was named the 2024 Great Rift 10s Top Try Scorer and Most Promising Player, having previously won the Most Promising Player award at the 2022 Dala 7s.

Beyond the traditional 15s and 7s formats, Mola has also represented Kenya on the rugby league stage.

He featured for the Kenya Rugby League National Team during its historic international debut at the Mid-East Rugby League Championship in Ghana, where Kenya lost 26-6 to the hosts in the semi-finals at the Legon Stadium in Accra.
