Kenyan 100m sprinter Samuel Imeta is among a group of 20 athletes that have been provisionally suspended by the Anti-Doping Agency of Kenya for various doping violations.
In a development first reported by Nation Sport, Imeta’s suspension comes as a result of him testing positive for Anabolic Androgenic Steroids during the second Athletics Kenya Track meeting held on 24 February 24 at the Nyayo National Stadium.

His name is among a host of others - involved in various sports disciplines - that were flagged in the latest list from ADAK and was conspicuously missing during the Kip Keino classic at Kasarani Stadium last month. The previous list was published in January this year.
The other athletes captured include; World Under 20 3000m silver medalist Zena Jemutai and Jarinter Mawia - who tested positive for banned substance Erythropoietin - resulting from OOC (out of competition) tests conducted by ADAK officials in November last year.
Jemutai on the other hand had her samples dating back from 21 January Athletics Kenya National Cross Country Championships test positive for the presence of the now frequently abused substance - Triamcinolone Acetonide.
Evangeline Makena, another culprit, had her samples taken from the third and fourth legs of the Athletics Kenya Track and Field meetings in Thika and Mombasa test positive for the presence of Prednisone and Triamcinolone Acetonide.
Other athletes in the list include; Gladys Nthenya, Agnes Mumbua, Hannah Mwangi - a Kip Keino Classic 400m Hurdles winner- Victor Koskey, John Gikonyo, Cynthia Kendi, Bernard Cheruiyot, Collins Koros among others.
Additionally, basketballer David Yamo and rugby player Elphas Emong have been suspended after testing positive for cannabinoids.
Imeta - a second-place finisher in the 2nd AK meeting behind Commonwealth Games gold medalist Ferdinand Omanyala in a time of 9.94 - had bursted to a promising start to the year that also saw him win the third edition of the ASA Grand Prix clocking 10.12 before registering another in Final 2 of the Botswana Golden Grand Prix.
The ASA Grand Prix 1 fourth-place finisher was also part of Kenya’s 4x100 relay team that is on pace to make the World Athletics Championships in Budapest later this year.
