The coastal club have secured the signature of experienced left-back Herit Mungai Atariza, who joins the Dockers from National Super League (NSL) side FC Talanta following a brief six-month spell with the Communication Authority of Kenya-backed outfit.

Mungai arrived at Talanta midway through last season but now returns to the top flight as Bandari look to address defensive frailties that have plagued their campaign.

His arrival signals intent from the Mombasa-based side, who have endured an inconsistent run of results that has left them playing catch-up in the league standings.

The former Nairobi City Stars defender, Mungai, offers versatility, capable of operating both in defence and higher up the left flank.

He brings a wealth of experience at the highest domestic level, having previously turned out for FKFPL sides Posta Rangers, Kariobangi Sharks, and KCB FC.

Confirming the signing, Bandari announced via their official communication channels, stating:

“Bandari FC is pleased to announce the signing of defender Herrit Mungai as we strengthen the squad mid-season.

Mungai adds depth, discipline, and versatility to our defensive unit as the team pushes forward for the remainder of the campaign. Welcome to the Dockers’ family, Herrit.”

The move also sees Mungai re-unite with head coach Bernard Mwalala, with whom he worked closely during their time together at KCB in the 2023/24 season.

Mwalala recently returned to Bandari, and the familiarity between the two is expected to ease the defender’s transition into the squad.

Adding a personal touch to the transfer, Mungai follows in the footsteps of his elder brother Mejja Atariza, who enjoyed a successful six-year stint with Bandari and was part of the club’s historic 2019 Mozzart Bet Cup triumph.

Bandari will now bank on Mungai’s leadership and experience as they seek stability, consistency and a late surge that could reignite their ambitions and restore belief within the Dockers’ camp as the season enters a defining and demanding closing stretch
