Lyon head into the contest sitting third in the Ligue 1 table with 45 points from 24 matches, having recorded 14 wins, three draws and seven defeats so far.

Despite suffering a narrow 3-2 loss to Olympique de Marseille last weekend, Paulo Fonseca’s side managed to hold onto their Champions League spot.

However, their recent form has dipped slightly after a strong run earlier in the campaign. Lyon are currently winless in their last three matches across all competitions, including a 2-2 draw with RC Lens in the French Cup before being eliminated on penalties.

Across their last six matches in all competitions, Lyon have recorded three wins, one draw and two defeats while scoring 10 goals and conceding eight.

Their matches during that run have averaged three total goals, highlighting an attacking approach that often leaves space defensively.

Nonetheless, Lyon remain one of the stronger attacking sides in Ligue 1 with an average of 1.63 goals per match this season.

Home form has been a major strength for Les Gones. They have won five consecutive league matches at Groupama Stadium and 12 of their last 15 home games in all competitions.

Midfield leader Corentin Tolisso remains influential in controlling the tempo, while striker Roman Yaremchuk is expected to spearhead the attack.

However, Lyon do have a number of injury concerns. Ernest Nuamah is ruled out with a cruciate ligament injury, while Afonso Moreira and Pavel Sulc are doubtful with hamstring issues. Clinton Mata will also miss the game through suspension.

Paris FC arrive in Lyon occupying 14th place in the Ligue 1 standings with 26 points from 24 matches.

Their season has been inconsistent, recording six wins, eight draws and 10 defeats, but they secured an important 1-0 victory over OGC Nice in their latest outing.

That result marked a positive start for new manager Antoine Kombouaré and lifted morale after a difficult run.

Form has been mixed for Paris FC in recent weeks. Over their last six matches in all competitions they have managed just one victory, alongside three draws and two defeats.

The team has struggled offensively during that period, scoring only four goals while conceding 10.

Their matches have averaged 2.33 goals, and only 33% of those games saw both teams score.

Away form offers some encouragement for the visitors. Paris FC are unbeaten in their last three away league matches, including draws against Toulouse FC and AJ Auxerre.

However, they have won only three of their 12 away league fixtures this season. Key attacking contributions may come from midfielder Marshall Munetsi, who scored the winning goal against Nice and has found the net in back-to-back league matches.

Paris FC also have several absentees, with Pierre-Yves Hamel injured while Hamari Traoré, Thibault De Smet and Ilan Kebbal are unavailable.

The reverse fixture earlier this season produced a thrilling 3-3 draw in Paris, which remains the only recent head-to-head meeting between the sides. That match showed Paris FC can cause problems offensively, though Lyon’s superior squad depth and home advantage remain significant factors.

Key Betting Insights;

  • Lyon have won 12 of their last 15 home matches in all competitions
  • Lyon have won 14 of their 24 Ligue 1 games this season
  • Paris FC have managed just three wins in 12 away league matches
  • Paris FC have won only 25% of their Ligue 1 games this campaign

Given Lyon’s excellent home record and Paris FC’s inconsistent attacking form, the hosts appear well positioned to return to winning ways. While the visitors showed resilience in the reverse fixture, Lyon’s quality and strong record at Groupama Stadium should ultimately prove decisive.

Prediction; Lyon to Win
