Bundesliga goes nuclear: Europe, relegation and total chaos await final day

Three clubs are level on points at the bottom, one Champions League place still up for grabs and Germany is bracing for a season finale loaded with drama (4.30 pm)
Just 90 minutes of Bundesliga drama remain, and Germany's final matchday still carries huge stakes at both ends of the table. While the title race has long been over, the battle for Europe and survival is heading for a chaotic finish.
Bayern Munich wrapped up another Bundesliga title weeks ago and sit 16 points clear of Borussia Dortmund. Vincent Kompany's side is now chasing the domestic double, with next week's German Cup final against VfB Stuttgart at Berlin's Olympiastadion still to come.
Bayern, Dortmund and RB Leipzig have already secured Champions League football for next season, but the final spot in Europe's elite competition remains wide open.
Stuttgart currently hold the advantage.
They are level on 61 points with Hoffenheim but possess a five-goal advantage in goal difference. The equation is simple: beat Eintracht Frankfurt away and Champions League football should be theirs. Hoffenheim would need a huge final-day swing to overturn the deficit.
Bayer Leverkusen still have a mathematical chance of sneaking into fourth, but the odds are slim. Xabi Alonso's former side must beat already-safe HSV and hope both Stuttgart and Hoffenheim lose.
The Europa League picture is far clearer. Germany will have two representatives there next season, most likely the teams that narrowly miss out on the Champions League places. Leverkusen are almost guaranteed to end up in UEFA's second-tier competition.
Things become even more complicated in the race for the Conference League. Because Stuttgart reached the German Cup final, seventh place in the Bundesliga now offers a Conference League play-off spot.
Freiburg currently lead that race with 44 points, ahead of Frankfurt and Augsburg on 43. But Freiburg's Europa League final against Aston Villa on Wednesday could completely reshape the situation.
If Freiburg lose in Istanbul, the Bundesliga standings remain unchanged. But if they lift the Europa League trophy and also finish seventh, they would qualify directly for the Champions League, meaning Germany would lose its Conference League spot altogether.
At the bottom, the Bundesliga survival battle has turned into total madness. For the first time in the league's 63-year history, the bottom three clubs head into the final round level on points. VfL Wolfsburg, 1. FC Heidenheim and FC St. Pauli all sit on 26 points.
Even more dramatically, St. Pauli host Wolfsburg in a direct relegation showdown on the final day.
😨🇩🇪 The Bundesliga relegation fight is TENSE. Just 1 game left, with Wolfsburg, Heidenheim & St.Pauli on the SAME points.

Reminder: 16th place will have the chance to stay in the division through the play-off.

Wolfsburg hold a slight edge thanks to a better goal difference and a victory in Hamburg would almost certainly guarantee survival unless Heidenheim produce a massive win over Mainz 05.
A draw, however, could drag both teams into danger if Heidenheim - unbeaten in their last three matches - defeat Mainz at home.
St. Pauli's route is the narrowest of all. They likely need to beat Wolfsburg and hope Heidenheim fail to win in order to force their way into the relegation play-off spot instead of automatic relegation.
One final round. One final afternoon of chaos. And in typical Bundesliga fashion, almost everything is still on the line.
