In a statement shared on their official platforms, the 12-time FKF Premier League champions confirmed that the young custodian, a graduate of the Tusker Youth setup, has been steadily recovering and is gradually being reintroduced to training routines.
"Our goalkeeper Edwin Simiyu is steadily on his way to full recovery. Simiyu has been kept out of contact football for a minimum of six months by doctors after suffering a concussion last season.
He has, however, slowly begun his return as the six-month period nears an end. Glad to see you back, Edu!” the club posted.
Simiyu sustained a head injury during one of Tusker’s training sessions late last season after colliding with the goal post while attempting to make a save.
The incident forced the medical team to rule him out of all contact football activities as a precautionary measure.
Although the exact date for his full return to competitive action remains uncertain, the club expects the youthful shot-stopper to be fully fit and available for selection early next year.
In Simiyu’s absence, Tusker moved swiftly to strengthen their goalkeeping department, acquiring Brandon Obiero, formerly of Kariobangi Sharks, Coast Stima, and FC Talanta, at the start of the ongoing campaign to fill the void.
Simiyu, 22, joined the Tusker Youth ranks in 2019, where he developed his craft over four years before earning promotion to the senior team at the start of the 2023–2024 FKF Premier League season.
He made his senior debut midway through the first leg of the 2024/25 season, starting in Tusker’s 3–1 victory over FC Talanta under head coach Charles Okere.
Since then, he has featured in three matches for the Brewers, keeping one clean sheet.
