Heading into today’s matches, Gor Mahia sit at the summit of the standings with 61 points, six ahead of second-placed AFC Leopards, while Kenya Police FC complete the top three with 48 points.

Gor Mahia vs Kakamega Homeboyz
With AFC Leopards not in action this weekend, Gor Mahia have a chance to stretch their lead at the top to nine points with a win over Kakamega Homeboyz. The match will be played at Mumias Sports Complex from 3:00 pm.
K’Ogalo head into the clash in high spirits after securing a 1-0 victory in the Mashemeji Derby against their arch-rivals AFC Leopards. The win ended a three-match winless run that had allowed Leopards to close the gap in the title race.
They now face a tricky opponent in Homeboyz, who are fourth on the table with 47 points and are currently on a four-match winless streak, including three league matches.
Speaking ahead of the game, Gor Mahia head coach Charles Akonnor highlighted the challenge posed by their opponents.
“We are looking forward to the upcoming match, which will be different from our last one. Our opponents rely on long balls and a strong midfield, so we will need to manage that well,” said Akonnor.
The Ghanaian tactician also hinted at tactical adjustments from the setup used in the Mashemeji Derby.
“Our approach will be different from how we played against AFC Leopards. We will make a few changes to ensure we are solid defensively while remaining effective in attack,” he added.
Akonnor also cautioned against complacency despite their healthy lead at the top.
“It is not over yet. We will keep fighting until the final match when we can be declared champions. We are taking it one game at a time and must remain tactically disciplined,” he noted.
Midfielder Enock Morrison echoed his coach’s sentiments, emphasizing the team’s focus.
“The team is motivated to go out there and win. We have five finals left, and the next three are especially crucial, so we must keep working hard,” said Morrison.
He also acknowledged the pressure that comes with playing for a top club.
“There is always pressure when you play for a big team like Gor Mahia because every opponent wants to beat you. It is our responsibility to handle that and perform,” he added.
Kakamega Homeboyz head coach Patrick Odhiambo dismissed suggestions that his side would play to favour AFC Leopards.
“We have heard those saying we should hold Gor Mahia for them, but we want to make it clear that we will compete fairly. We are professionals, and our focus is on playing for the badge and winning our matches,” said Odhiambo.
Bidco United vs Kariobangi Sharks
The relegation battle also takes centre stage as Bidco United face Kariobangi Sharks at Wang’uru Stadium from 2:00 pm.
Both sides are in the drop zone, with Bidco facing an uphill task. They are eight points behind Ulinzi Stars, who sit just above the relegation line, and have struggled for form, managing only one win in their last 24 matches.
Kariobangi Sharks, meanwhile, are just two points behind Ulinzi Stars and APS Bomet. A win today would see them leapfrog both sides, who are not in action this weekend.
