The experienced striker will compete with in-form Felix Oluoch for the number nine role, adding depth and healthy competition to the squad.

Gor Mahia’s new striker, Ebenezer Assifuah, has made a promising start at K’Ogalo, quickly showing his intention to leave a lasting impact during his stay at the club.

The Ghanaian forward, who joined earlier this month, has wasted little time endearing himself to fans and teammates, scoring in last Wednesday’s 3-2 comeback win over Murang’a Seal and providing an assist in Sunday’s 3-0 victory against Mara Sugar FC.

The widely travelled forward first made headlines a decade ago. On 1 October 2015, Assifuah scored on his European club competition debut for FC Sion in a UEFA Europa League match against Liverpool at Anfield, marking his arrival on the continental stage.

Assifuah has continued to make his presence felt at Gor Mahia, contributing decisively off the bench and underlining his readiness to adapt to the demands of the FKF Premier League. Speaking after the win over Mara Sugar at Nyayo Stadium, he expressed gratitude for the warm reception and reflected on his settling-in process.

“I thank God, the players, the management, the coaches, and my teammates because I am settling in and getting into the team bit by bit,” he said.

The 28-year-old admitted he initially felt some pressure upon arriving at the club but noted that the support from his compatriots and the technical bench has made the transition easier.

“I felt some pressure on the very first day I came here, but it has not been difficult for me to settle in Kenya because I have my brothers here, Morrison, George Amonno, and even the coaches,” he added.

Assifuah also played down any personal pressure to win the league this season, stressing that his focus is on steady progress and collective success.

We are taking it game by game. My goal is to help the team perform, adapt to the league, and achieve our objectives,” he said.

The experienced striker will compete with in-form Felix Oluoch for the number nine role, adding depth and healthy competition to the squad.

With Gor Mahia keen to reclaim the league title they lost to Kenya Police FC last season, Assifuah’s professionalism, early contributions, and commitment to full integration are expected to be vital to the club’s ambitions this campaign.
