As part of the agreement, Plascon will take up sleeve sponsorship on Gor Mahia’s playing kit.
The partnership follows discussions between the club and the company that were initiated months ago-and adds to the club’s income streams alongside revenue from the main sponsor, gate collections, FKF grants and league broadcast allocations.
The club announced the partnership through a statement shared on its official social media platforms. “We are pleased to announce Plascon, a paint solutions company, as our new partner,” the statement read in part. “Welcome to the Gor Mahia family. Plascon will take up space on the sleeve of our shirt. The partnership will run through to the end of the season on a Kshs 5 million, renewable deal.”
Gor Mahia chairman Ambrose Rachier said the partnership aligns with the club’s efforts to strengthen its governance structures.
“We need to transform the club and think in terms of corporate governance,” Rachier said. “There must be a first step in that journey, and Plascon supports that move.”
Club patron Eliud Owalo stated that the agreement is part of a broader plan to attract private sector partnerships and assured the sponsor of value for its investment.
"I want to assure Plascon that they are partnering with a strong brand in Gor Mahia,” Owalo said. “Our vision is to transform the club into the most successful football institution. We look forward to partnering with more private sector players, and as a club we will ensure there are proper policies and structures to guide us.”
Plascon Managing Director Kota Enami said the company was keen to partner with an organisation of Gor Mahia’s stature.
“We were looking to partner with an organisation of significant magnitude and, after our research, Gor Mahia fit our criteria,” Enami said. “This partnership brings together two organisations that share common values and ethics, and we look forward to working together.”
The partnership will run until the end of the current season, with an option for renewal.
