In a brief communication on the social media channels, Mara Sugar, who are the hosts of the Sunday, 24 May tie, noted that they had now moved the fixture away from their home ground - Awendo Stadium.
“Change of venue”, the Sugar Millers wrote. “Wang'uru Stadium becomes our Home Away from Home as we face Gor Mahia this Sunday.”

The development comes a day after the Football Kenya Federation (FKF) directed Mara Sugar to find a suitable alternative venue for the game, which could see Gor Mahia win a record-extending 22nd FKF Premier League title, should they secure victory.
Mara Sugar had earlier this week announced that the match would be held at their regular home ground in Awendo, a move that was immediately questioned, given its size, and the security risk it carried, owing to the sheer number of fans expected on the day.
It does appear now, that Mara Sugar has bowed to the pressure, relocating its final home match this season to the 10,000 Capacity Wang'uru Stadium in Mwea, Kirinyaga county.

Having initially set the ticket prices at Awendo Stadium at Ksh500, the Sugar Millers have also subsidized the cost for normal seats, with regular tickets going for Ksh300, and the added VIP section retailing at Ksh1000.
Sitting atop the Premier League standings with 68 points, Gor Mahia will be declared champions with a win in the 3 P.M kickoff, or in the case of defeat, an AFC Leopards loss to APS Bomet on the same day at the Wilson Kiprugut Chumo Stadium in Kericho.
Mara Sugar come into the game placed eighth on the log with 43 points, and will be seeking a first win over K’Ogalo in the top-flight, having lost all the three previous meetings with an aggregate scoreline of 9-0.
A trip to Wang’uru, however, is one that will not offer the best of memories for Gor Mahia, who complained of its state following their 1-0 defeat to Tusker in April.
At the time, Gor head coach Charles Akonnor questioned the Federation’s move to have the match staged there, saying: “I don’t want to complain, but why this game was brought here I don’t know. The field of play was bad; it's been difficult to come here and play.
How this match was organised, and how it came about that we played here, not just for my team, but for the opponents as well, they need to have a good field to play football. The field is so bumpy, you can twist your leg, and it is not healthy for the boys.”
He will hope better fortune lies in wait this time.
