Homeboyz host FC Talanta on Friday.
Kakamega Homeboyz defender Brian Chala Eshihanda expressed his happiness at finding the back of the net for the first time this season against Bandari FC in Mombasa on Tuesday.
The towering defender's 62nd-minute header secured the Kakamega-based side's second win of the campaign in what was a hard-fought tie at the Mbaraki Sports Club.
Eshihanda, a former striker now thriving as a central defender, spoke of his delight at helping his club bag maximum points in the coastal town.
"I am happy to have found the back of the net on Sunday against Bandari. We really had to strike an immediate comeback, especially after suffering defeat at home last week, and I am glad we responded quite well." Chala said.
The no-nonsense defender, who is fast developing a reputation for scoring headers, adds that Sunday's win is a moral booster for the squad.
"Sunday's win was a great one for the team, but more especially for us, the playing unit. We really needed the win to inject back our confidence levels in the team, which I believe will be able to propel us in tackling our upcoming fixtures."
Chala also further notes that there is a need for consistency to be within reach of the top spot.
"We registered our second of the season on Sunday, which came after a series of inconsistent performances, winning, drawing, and losing in a row. To become champions and repeat last season's good outing, we really need to be consistent with our performance. I hope we can build on Bandari's win and post positive results in our next assignments," he concluded.
Chala will be hoping Kakamega Homeboyz register their third win of the season when they welcome FC Talanta on Friday.
