Rama can play as a left back and at the heart of the defence.
Versatile KCB defender Rama Mwenda is hopeful of procuring his maiden call to the Tanzania national team, Taifa Stars possibly in the new year.
Mwenda who has featured for three Kenyan clubs that ply trade in the top flight disclosed that he has been longing for a call from the time he landed in the country.
The player who can play as a left back, at the heart of the back line and as a defensive midfielder said he was banking on the performance in the season to be considered for a place in the Tiafa Stars team.
With the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers set to resume next year, the former Nzoia Sugar man said he was confident of hearing from the technical bench and joining his colleagues in doing battle for the country.
Tanzania are placed in group F of the qualifiers alongside their East African counterpart Uganda, Niger and the 2019 African champions Algeria.
"It has been my wish to play for the national team from the time I began playing football. The door to the team is always open to any player who works hard and hopefully, my effort will knock it open," he said.
The former Kariobangi Sharks in the meantime said he was drawing inspiration from the Tusker duo of Ibrahim Joshua and Kalos Kirenge who boast of international experience.
Joshua who joined the brewers last year earned his Taifa Stars call up in March this year and has gone on to play for the team on a regular basis.
Kirenge on the other hand arrived in Kenya with full international status on his side but has never gained a recall to the national team.
"When I see my brothers who play for Tusker get call ups, it motivates me to work harder. It also leaves me convinced that my efforts will one day be rewarded," he added.
