Will Bandari stop KCB's march to the summit of the FKFPL log?

KCB's mettle to ascend to the summit of the Football Kenya Federation Premier League (FKFPL) will be put to test when they confront Bandari on Sunday at the Utalii grounds.

The Bankers who sit second with 33 points trail league leaders Tusker by two points and will approach the match aware that a win of any margin will see them boss the standings once again this season.

KCB who have repeatedly insisted that they will not settle for anything less than the title had taken control of the standings early in the season after winning the first six rounds but a rough patch saw them relinquish the top spot to Tusker.

Having watched their rivals Tusker and AFC Leopards drop points on Friday and Saturday respectively, the Zedekiah Otieno coached club will hope that they will not suffer a similar fate as it will dent their title ambitions.

However, their quest to reclaim the top spot is expected to be severely tested by The Dockers who are unbeaten in the last seven league outings and were handed a major boost following the return of the trio of Felly Mulumba, Yema Mwama and Siraj Mohamed.

Ahead of the match, KCB assistant coach Godfrey Oduor has called on his players to stick their eyes on the prize.

"We are not in any way thinking of how other teams performed. We are fully concentrating on how we will get the three points. We want to pick from where we left when we played Mathare United," said the former Kibera Black Stars coach.

On the other hand, Bandari captain Bernard Odhiambo has challenged his teammates to focus on securing the three points and extending their recent unbeaten run to eight matches.

"The target remains to get maximum points and maintain the good run we are currently riding on. The players are focused on giving a good account of themselves and are ready for the fight. A win will also move us closer to the apex," said the central defender.

Statistics between the two sides show that Bandari have won seven of the last fifteen meetings with KCB bagging four and the rest ending evenly.
