The club confirmed the departure as part of a broader squad overhaul ahead of the 2026 campaign.
According to an update published by News 19, Huntsville City have parted ways with thirteen players, including Mayaka, as they restructure following a historic 2025 season in which they secured their first-ever playoff berth and victory.
The exit list features Kevin Carmichael, Blake Bowen, Tyshawn Rose, Christian Koffi, Pep Casas, Bryce Boneau, Ethan O’Brien, Gio Miglietti, Real Gill, and Erik Lauta, while loan deals for Moises Veliz and Damien Barker John have expired.
“As we close out the 2025 season, we’ve made the decision to part ways with several players who played an important role in our success this year, including helping us earn the first playoff berth and win in club history,” said Alec Dufty, Huntsville City FC Director of Soccer Operations.
“We’re grateful for their effort and commitment to the club and wish them the best in the next step of their careers.
As we look ahead, our focus is on building upon this season’s success and establishing Huntsville City FC as a perennial contender in MLS NEXT Pro.”
Mayaka joined Huntsville City at the end of 2024 from Crown Legacy FC, adding another chapter to an already eventful football journey.
Born in Nairobi, his career took shape a decade ago when he moved to the United States after being scouted and enrolled at Montverde Academy in Florida.
He later featured for Orlando City’s Youth Academy between 2018 and 2019, making 16 appearances and scoring nine goals.
The 24-year-old then starred at Clemson University, tallying 32 appearances, two goals, and eight assists before signing a Generation Adidas deal that made him eligible for the MLS SuperDraft.
The Colorado Rapids selected him third overall in 2021, leading to a loan stint with Colorado Springs Switchbacks before he transitioned into MLS NEXT Pro with Rapids 2.
Mayaka has also been capped once by the Harambee Stars, earning a call-up in 2021 for the 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Mali.
