The two sides faced off in an FKF Premier League clash on Wednesday, 6 May, at Police Sacco Stadium, where Police edged out Murang'a Seal 2-1.
Former Tusker FC winger Eric Zakayo handed Police an early lead in the third minute before Victor Haki restored parity for Seal in the 37th minute.
Just when the contest appeared headed for a draw, Aboud Omar produced another moment of brilliance, curling home a sublime free kick in the 84th minute to seal maximum points for the law enforcers.
It was the manner of the winning goal that particularly angered Odhiambo, who admitted his side had been warned about Omar’s danger from set pieces.
“We started the match slowly but upped our game and equalized. In the end, we conceded a quality free kick by Aboud. We knew of Aboud’s quality on free kicks and discussed how to avoid fouls around the danger zone because he has been consistently scoring from there, and that became our undoing,” said Odhiambo.
The Harambee Stars defender has now scored two direct free kicks in the space of four days after his stunning 41st-minute effort against Shabana in the quarter-finals of the 2026 Mozzart Bet Cup guided Police to a 1-0 victory and a place in the semi-finals.
Despite the defeat, Odhiambo believes the Seals are gradually rediscovering their attacking edge but admits defensive lapses remain a major concern heading into the final stretch of the campaign.
“We must now work on improving our defense, especially because we have now found our scoring form,” he noted.
The loss deepened Seal’s struggles and stretched their winless run to eight matches across all competitions, seven of them in the league, including five straight defeats.
Seal, who have managed just one win in their last 10 league outings, remain 11th on the table with 38 points ahead of Sunday’s home clash against Kakamega Homeboyz on 10 May.
