Their persistence eventually paid off in the 51st minute when Christopher Onyango found the breakthrough with a composed finish that ultimately proved decisive.
The Homa Bay-based side struggled to break down a disciplined Kisumu All Stars defence, with the hosts holding firm to secure maximum points in a result that could significantly alter the complexion of the promotion race.
The defeat dealt a damaging blow to MOFA’s ambitions of securing promotion, with the dropped points potentially leaving their top-flight dream hanging by a thread as the season edges closer to its conclusion.
For Kisumu All Stars, however, the victory could prove priceless in their fight against relegation.
The Mozzart Bet-backed outfit climbed to 32 points, opening a crucial six-point cushion above the relegation zone and boosting their hopes of survival.
Meanwhile, at Wundanyi Stadium, Mombasa United strengthened both their promotion and title credentials after edging past Mwatate United 1-0 in a tightly contested coastal derby.
A first-half strike from Clinton Odiwuor proved enough to separate the two sides as the Mombasa-based club secured a second consecutive victory to maintain pressure at the summit of the standings.
The result marked coach Peter Okidi’s second win since taking charge of the club, with Mombasa United moving level on 71 points with league leaders Migori Youth in an increasingly tense title and promotion battle.
For Mwatate United, the defeat could hardly have come at a worse time.
The loss left them rooted at the bottom of the table on 25 points, further deepening their relegation fears as the fight for survival intensifies.
Elsewhere at Eldoret Showground, Soy United returned to winning ways with a hard-fought 2-1 victory over Kabati Youth FC.
Goals from Bruce Oduor and Eric Masafu inspired the Mozzart Bet-backed side to end a frustrating three-match winless run and revive their push for a strong finish to the campaign.
The victory lifted Jeffers Odongo’s charges to 47 points, strengthening their pursuit of a top-ten finish.
Kabati Youth, on the other hand, were left staring at serious relegation danger after the defeat pushed them into the drop zone.
At Sudi Stadium, Naivas FC continued their impressive run of form with a narrow 1-0 victory over hosts Nzoia Sugar.
The win saw the retailers rise to 54 points, further cementing their place in the top five as they continue to enjoy a strong end to the season.
