MOFA squandered the chance to climb into third place, remaining fourth on 57 points—two behind 3K FC

Michael Olunga Football Academy (MOFA) FC saw their promotion ambitions dealt a significant blow after surrendering a commanding position to settle for a dramatic 3-3 draw against visiting FC Talanta in a pulsating league encounter.

The hosts made a bright start, asserting early dominance and breaking the deadlock just four minutes into the contest.

A dangerous effort from Vincent Omondi forced an error from the Talanta goalkeeper, who inadvertently turned the ball into his own net to hand MOFA a dream start.

However, the visitors responded with remarkable urgency.

Barely a minute later, Evans Malo restored parity, rising highest to meet a well-weighted delivery from Brian Maingi and heading home the equaliser in emphatic fashion.

Talanta continued to grow in confidence and were duly rewarded at the half-hour mark when Malo struck again.

The forward capitalised on defensive lapses to complete his brace, turning the tide in favour of the visitors as they headed into the break with a 2-1 advantage.

Upon resumption, Talanta tightened their grip on the contest and extended their lead through Brian Lusakhumuka.

The forward showed composure to chip the ball past the MOFA goalkeeper, who had misjudged the situation inside the box, leaving the home side with a mountain to climb.

Yet, under the guidance of head coach Charles Bruno, MOFA refused to capitulate.

Their persistence paid off in the later stages, with Kevin Bulimo pulling one back around the hour mark to reignite hopes of a comeback.

The momentum shifted decisively in the dying moments, as the former Kiminini Combined attacker stepped up when it mattered most.

Deep into stoppage time, he struck a crucial equaliser in the 90+2 minute, salvaging a point for the hosts in dramatic fashion.

Despite the spirited comeback, the result will feel like a missed opportunity for the Homa Bay-based side.

The Harambee Stars captain’s side squandered the chance to climb into third place, remaining fourth on 57 points—two behind 3K FC, and risk losing further ground should their rivals capitalise on games in hand.

For FC Talanta, with little at stake in the closing stages of the campaign, the result keeps them in 11th position as they aim to finish the season on a stable note.

Fortune Sacco 1-0 Mwatate United

Elsewhere at Wang’uru Stadium in Kirinyaga, Fortune Sacco continued their impressive run with a narrow 1-0 victory over Mwatate United.

In-form striker Collins Mwangi once again proved decisive, latching onto Victor Matete’s precise delivery in the 20th minute to slot home what ultimately stood as the match-winner.

The goal underscored his clinical edge in front of goal during a rich vein of form.

The victory sees Vincent Nyaberi’s side climb to 52 points, extending their unbeaten streak to 10 matches and firmly inserting themselves into the promotion conversation.

Now just seven points shy of third place, with a game in hand, Fortune Sacco are steadily building momentum at a crucial stage of the season.

For Mwatate United, however, the defeat deepens their struggles.

Coach James Tole endured his second loss since taking charge, with the result further intensifying the club’s relegation fears as they remain second from bottom.

Kibera Black Stars 0-0 Gucha FC

At Gems Cambridge, Kibera Black Stars suffered another frustrating setback after being held to a goalless draw, marking back-to-back disappointing results.

The outcome leaves Iddi Badi’s side on 50 points, now nine adrift of the promotion spots, a gap that continues to widen at a critical juncture.

Their opponents, Gucha FC, will draw slight encouragement from halting a run of consecutive defeats. However, the stalemate extends their winless streak to seven matches.

While they maintain a seven-point cushion above the relegation zone, Sammy Okoth’s charges remain far from safety and will need positive results to steer clear of danger.

Mully Children’s Family 1-1 Soy United

At Ndalani Complex, Mully Children’s Family were held to a 1-1 draw by Soy United in a result that does little to ease their relegation concerns.

The stalemate keeps MCF entrenched in the drop zone battle, while Soy United remain ninth on 43 points, maintaining a steady mid-table position as the season edges toward its conclusion.
