Tottenham’s goalkeeper is being targeted by several clubs, including Italian giants Juventus and Inter
Guglielmo Vicario may soon be on his way out of Tottenham, with growing reports linking the goalkeeper to a potential return to Serie A at a reduced fee. The 29-year-old has been the club’s first-choice shot-stopper since joining from Empoli in 2023, but after a dreadful spell for the north London side, he is said to be open to a move back to Italy.
Tottenham are currently caught in a shocking battle for survival, sitting only a point above the Premier League relegation zone following a string of poor results. Amid the chaos, Juventus have emerged as the main contenders to sign the Italian goalkeeper as they prepare to completely reshape their goalkeeping options.
The Turin club are eager to bring stability to the position after several costly mistakes from current No.1 Michele Di Gregorio. According to Tuttosport, "preliminary contact has already been made with the player’s representatives to discuss a summer transfer", with Juve reportedly comfortable meeting a £17m (€20m) valuation.
Spurs’ struggles deepened after a painful 3-1 defeat at home to Crystal Palace, a result that intensified concerns about the club’s ability to remain in the top flight. In fact, Tuttosport even suggested that Vicario’s focus "might've been teleported to Turn" during the match itself, highlighting both the scale of the defeat and the uncertainty surrounding his future.
Despite the growing transfer rumours, Tottenham’s immediate priority remains their dangerous position in the league standings. The loss to Palace once again exposed the defensive weaknesses that have haunted the team throughout the campaign.
Tudor, brought in to stabilise the situation, has faced a far tougher challenge than expected, and the ongoing instability has only increased speculation that key players such as Vicario could be seeking an exit.
Juventus, however, are not the only club monitoring the situation. Inter have also been credited with interest in the Italian international as they begin planning for life after veteran Swiss goalkeeper Yann Sommer, whose contract expires in June. Tuttosport reports that the Nerazzurri view Vicario as a perfect target for the summer window.
Should both Italian heavyweights pursue the deal, Vicario could become the subject of a major transfer battle, especially if Tottenham are forced into a significant squad rebuild at the end of the season.
