It is yet to be seen whether Arsenal will consider Abdullahi’s offer.
Renowned city lawyer Senior Counsel Ahmednasir Abdullahi has offered to save English Premier League (EPL) club Arsenal, pledging millions to support the signing of Victor Gyökeres.
The Swedish striker has arguably been the biggest talk of the current summer transfer window, attracting interest from several clubs but, in the end, preferring a move to the North London club.

However, there has been a transfer stalemate between Arsenal and Portuguese club Sporting Lisbon, where Gyökeres is currently attached.
The two clubs have reportedly agreed on an initial transfer fee of €63 million (approximately Ksh 9.45 billion), with about €10 million (approximately Ksh 1.5 billion) in add-ons. But the deal is stuck over how to pay a final €2.5 million (approximately Ksh 375 million) add-on.
Arsenal want the final €2.5 million to depend on major achievements like winning trophies, while the Portuguese giants want it paid automatically once Gyökeres makes 40 appearances across two seasons.
With the deal stuck over the modalities of paying just 3.4% of the agreed amount, Arsenal fans across the globe do not understand why such a big club is unable to pay such a small figure.
The frustrations have reached Kenya, and now Abdullahi, one of their own, is seemingly fed up with the embarrassment and delay and has decided to intervene.
“£2.5m is holding the transfer of Victor Gyökeres to Arsenal. SAD! I want to publicly inform both @Arsenal and @m8arteta that I'm willing to pay the same so that the player can join the team in their pre-season tour in Singapore! @WehliyeMohamed,” posted Abdullahi on his X (formerly Twitter) account.
The Ksh 375 million is quite a significant amount by Kenyan standards, and indeed globally, but if that is what it takes to help Arsenal, Abdullahi is ready to support his club.
This is not the first time the controversial city lawyer has offered to assist Arsenal when they seemingly struggle to sign players. In August 2021, he also offered to help the club raise funds for player transfers.
"I'm seriously considering a global crowdfunding initiative to buy a player or two for Arsenal. I think we can raise tens of millions,” he tweeted at the time.
Africans have seemingly had a solution to Arsenal’s problems over the years, with Africa’s richest man, Aliko Dangote, even offering to buy the club in a deal worth £2 billion (approximately Ksh 346 billion).
It is yet to be seen whether Arsenal will consider Abdullahi’s offer.
