Kabras Sugar to battle Kenya Harlequins in Prinsloo Sevens final

Kabras RFC will face Kenya Harlequins in the Prinsloo Sevens final.

The Sugarmen qualified for the third consecutive semifinal after defeating KCB while Quins beat Menengai Oilers.

KCB RFC went down 15-0 to Kabras RFC in the first quarter-final match played at the Nakuru Athletic Club on Sunday 6 August.

This was the second meeting between the two sides in the 2023 National 7s Circuit. The bankers managed a 17-5 win over finals of the Dala 7s.

Jone Kubu led from the front, scoring a brace for Kabras RFC in the opening half. The conversion attempts were unsuccessful.

KCB attempted to pull a comeback but was unsuccessful. Kabras headed for halftime leading 10-0.

In the second half, Kenyan International Brian Tanga came in flying to score another five-pointer for the Sugarmen.

The conversion attempt was unsuccessful to see the scores at 15-0.

Kabras RFC head coach Felix Ayange, the boys went into the semi-final prepared for a tough challenge. He further credited the performance to three-week break.

"It went well. We did not concede any points. We knew it was so we were preparing for a tough semifinal. Day one tested us, but we took a day at a time and here we are to the third consecutive final," the former Shujaa playmaker offered.

Meanwhile, Prinsloo 7s defending champions Menengai Oilers left went down 14-10 to Kenya Harlequins.

The Quins have been in sleek form. They hit KCB RFC 24-5 to top the pool.
