The two sides are joined by Australia and Jamaica in Pool D.

The men’s national rugby 7s team, Shujaa, will start their campaign at the 2022 Commonwealth Games Rugby Sevens competition with a match against eternal rivals Uganda at 12.50 pm EAT on Friday 29 July. This is after the playing schedule for the Games were released ahead of the games set to take place at the Coventry Stadium in Birmingham from 29-31 July.

In the Games where 16 teams will be contesting for the gold medal, Shujaa will be eyeing revenge on the Uganda Cranes who painfully dethroned them as the African 7s champions when they were beaten the semis of the Africa 7s Cup held in Kampala, Uganda back in April 2022 before the noisy neighbours went on to win the tournament, consequently booking their spot at the Games.

The Damian McGrath-coached side will then face Jamaica at 8.58pm EAT the same Friday before they wind up their Pool D fixtures with a clash against Australia at 12.50pm EAT on Saturday 30 July.

In the other groups, 2018 Gold medal winners New Zealand headline Pool A where they are joined by England, Samoa and Sri Lanka.

Pool B is composed of African giants South Africa, Scotland, Tonga and Malaysia while Pool C sees double Olympic gold medalists Fiji joined by Canada, Wales and Zambia.
