According to the former ICT Cabinet Secretary, the meeting brought together Bournemouth Club President Jim Frevola, Commercial Director Rob Mitchell, and Partnerships Development Manager Sam McIntyre.
Although finer details of the talks remain under wraps, Owalo confirmed that the engagement centred on exploring avenues for collaboration between the Premier League side and Gor Mahia, with a view to enhancing football growth in Kenya.
"Our discussions were centred on exploring opportunities for partnerships with Bournemouth FC in developing football in Kenya,” reads part of Owalo’s statement.
He further noted that ahead of the meeting, he had joined the Bournemouth hierarchy in watching an EPL match at the Vitality Stadium, where the home team staged a spirited comeback from two goals down to draw with West Ham United in a thrilling contest played before a capacity crowd.
Owalo was accompanied by Kenya’s Deputy Head of Mission in the UK, Amb. Dr. Joseph Warui.
The latest development comes barely weeks after Owalo held talks with Kansai Plascon Kenya Limited regarding a potential sponsorship arrangement, signalling a renewed push to strengthen Gor Mahia’s commercial and sporting foundations ahead of future continental engagements.
