Kenya Police FC has confirmed the departure of Harambee Stars midfielder Francis Kahata, ending a successful three-year spell marked by historic achievements and silverware.
The experienced midfielder, affectionately known as “Kachi,” leaves the club after playing a vital role in transforming the Law Enforcers from league debutants into title-winning contenders.
The announcement was made on Thursday through the club’s official X (formerly Twitter) platform.
"Farewell, Kachi. A calm presence, technically gifted, and a respected figure in the dressing room. Francis Kahata’s time with us has come to a close. We’re grateful for his contribution and wish him the very best in the next chapter of his career,” the statement read.
Kahata joined Kenya Police FC in 2022 during their inaugural season in the FKF Premier League. His arrival brought much-needed experience and creativity to the squad.
Over the years, he became a central figure in the team’s progression, helping shape their identity and success on the pitch.
He was instrumental in Police’s breakthrough moment in 2024, when the club lifted its first-ever trophy, the Mozzart Bet Cup, after a nerve-racking 9-8 penalty shootout win over KCB.
He followed that up with another major milestone, helping the team clinch its first FKF Premier League title in the 2024/25 season, finishing six points ahead of Gor Mahia.
That league triumph marked Kahata’s fourth top-flight crown, having previously won three titles with Gor Mahia.
His exit marks the fifth departure from the reigning league champions this window.
He joins a group of high-profile exits including Duncan Otieno, Tyson Otieno, Kenneth Muguna, Jesse Were, and Tim Oyanda, as the club reshapes its squad ahead of its debut campaign in the CAF Champions League.
To kickstart their rebuilding phase, Kenya Police FC has already secured the services of Harambee Stars attacker Edward Omondi, their first signing in preparation for the 2025/26 season.
